Cobia-fishing

Whether you’re an avid fisherman or you’re looking to reel in a line for the first time, Brays Island is the perfect place to get out on the water. As a fisherman’s paradise, owners have access to onsite salt and freshwater ponds, winding saltwater creeks and lowcountry rivers with outlets to the Atlantic. This allows our owners and guests countless opportunities to catch anything from flounder, redfish, black drum, and tarpon to largemouth bass and bream. From April to June, there’s the opportunity to sight fish for cobia, an addictive experience that is unique to this pocket of the Lowcountry.

Many of our owners take advantage of private boat storage and care, where our staff is available to help get your boat in the water, full of fuel and ready for the day. At Brays, owners don't need to own a boat in order to take full advantage of the creeks and rivers that surround us. We can provide boats and have guides that can teach you the ropes and make it that much easier to get out on the water. For owners who prefer their own boat, it’ll be fueled up and waiting on the dock for a fishing adventure.

Our fishing captains know how to get it done - thinking back to the day Captain Bryan and one of our owners and their guests caught and released 85 redfish from just one morning out on the river! Our licensed captains know the area better than anyone and are available for any age or experience level. If it’s your first time bringing home a catch, our Captains Bryan and Jess can fillet the fish for you so it’s ready for dinner.

The best part of bringing home a trophy after a day on the water is that you get to taste the fruits of your labor. There really is nothing more fresh than enjoying your catch of the day for dinner that same night. Executive Chef Ron Andrews (known here as just “Chef Ron”) regularly prepares bounties from the day for our owners. It’s as easy as bringing their filleted fish to Chef Ron at The Grill, our on-site dining and clubhouse overlooking the first tee, and let him know how you would like it prepared. With his expertise, he can prepare a unique dish for you outside of the traditional menu options.

Bringing home a fresh catch is just one of the ways our owners connect with nature here at Brays Island. Whether they’re out in the hunt fields, riding on the equestrian trails or bird watching around the property, there is so much to explore.
